Civil Protection Orders

           Under Ohio law, a court may order a Civil Protection Order to cover a person, a child, and/or pets in some cases for a period of up to five (5) years.  If the court finds necessary to protect the family or household member or the person with whom the respondent is or was in a dating relationship from domestic violence or if they are in immediate and present danger of domestic violence.

          Immediate and present danger includes, but is not limited to: 

  1. Threats of bodily harm

  2. Threats of a sexually oriented offense

  3. If the person previously has been convicted of, pleaded guilty to, or been adjudicated a delinquent child for an offense that constitutes domestic violence.
